Poem by Steve

Leprechaun

Today I met a leprechaun,
and a leprechaun met me.
He wore a long wax jacket,
and socks up to his knees.

He walked past me,
singing to himself.
Skipping to the music,
and dancing with the elves.

His beard was ginger,
wild and fluffy too.
His eyes were hypnotic,
always pointing at you.

He ran to see the wonder,
of the transportation device.
The overweight driver,
with a sandwich very nice.

The leprechaun stank as badly as he swore,
pushing everyone aside as he hobbled to the door.
Laughing at the pigeons and swearing at the kids,
swaying with the consequence of being on the piss.

Today I met a leprechaun,
and a leprechaun met me.
He had no place to go to,
he had no place to be.
No one was going to miss him,
no one would see him weep.
When the bus station closed for the night,
when he was forced out on the street.
